I've had the exclamation point happen on a set of skeletons in a dungeon near the beginning of the game (not the one across from the sewer) and on a shield that I picked up (Shield of the Sun, I believe). I'm using almost the same set of mods as the OP (Francesco's, Qarl's redimized, Natural Environments, Natural Faces). I'm having texture/mesh problems with my game where I get the yellow/purple exclamation points on certain enemies/items. I might as well use this older thread since someone already bumped it. After recent Oblivion sales, glad to see you only have maybe one more Bethesda game left to bitch about. The same with the environment, the active cities which are superior to probably every other RPG ever made, and. When you look back at the battle system of Morrowind it is immediately evident how superior this game is.
The only reason you can make mods that improve it is because the base of the game is so fantastic. Mods do make the game better after the event, but the game is great on its own. As far as a communication system that is compelling and gives the player control, maybe only Mass Effect beats it.
As far as a world that is fun to just run around and flame shit, not much beats it. As far as a real time RPG singleplayer battle system, nothing beats it. To pretend that it is shit without mods is just goofy dumbness. I had the same problems as many do with its leveling system and such.
